A big thank you and congratulations goes out to Ms Putnam Genz and Mrs Wulf as Columbus has been recognized as a FAFSA Focused School of Excellence! The efforts of our counselors to support students through completing the FAFSA and opening opportunities after high school has been impactful. With lessons taught to seniors, one-on-one meetings with families and seniors, and partnering with ICAN for a FAFSA night, the Class of 2025 had a 75% FAFSA Completion rate, up 8% from last year.
This honor is also shared with all staff who supported the Class of 2025, the parents/guardians who completed their portion of the FAFSA, and the seniors of 2025 for continuing to set and achieve their goal

Columbus Community School District will begin early dismissals every Wednesday starting tomorrow, August 27th, 2025. Students will be dismissed two hours early each Wednesday for the rest of the school year.

Last month, our senior Kaleb Arreola was selected as one of 60 students nationwide to attend the Iowa Summer Journalism Workshop at the University of Iowa! During this prestigious program, Kaleb took journalism classes, practiced his interview skills, and produced a news package for a live TV broadcast.

To help keep all students safe and ensure a smooth start and end to each school day, we kindly ask for your cooperation with our updated pick-up and drop-off procedures:
✅ Use the designated drop-off lane in the mornings.
🚫 Do not park and walk your child(ren) across the crosswalk – this creates a safety hazard and slows down traffic.
📦 If your child has large items (treats, projects, etc.), you may park and walk them inside. Otherwise, please remain in your vehicle.
🚶♂️ Do not walk up to the pick-up line or wait by the building at dismissal. If you need to pick up your child in person, please notify the office and sign them out inside.
🔁 Follow the traffic flow shown on the map for drop-off and pick-up.
⏰ Morning drop-off starts at 7:45 a.m.
⏰ Afternoon pick-up arrival should not begin before 2:30 p.m. Early arrivals block access and prevent buses from moving safely.
